Seven Wickets taken by Tim Southee, the most by a New Zealand bowler in ODIs. There have been 3 occasions, when a New Zealand bowler taking six wickets, two of them belonging to Shane Bond. Moreover two number of times in World Cups that a bowler has returned better bowling figures than Southee. Glenn McGrath (7 for 15) and Andy Bichel (7 for 20) did this during the 2003 World Cup, against Namibia and England respectively. This is the ninth instance of a bowler taking seven wickets in an ODI.

New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum just belted the fastest 50 in World Cup history. Records tumble in Wellington on Feb 20, 2015. Brendon McCullum hit 50 off 18 balls for New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup. The record for the fastest ODI fifty was made earlier this year, by AB de Villiers, when he reached 50 off 16 balls against West Indies.

Minnows Ireland stunned the West Indies at Nelson on Monday, beating them by 6 wickets to register the first upset win of the World Cup. Ireland batsman Peter Stirling smashed 92 off 84 balls and England discard Ed Joyce hit 84 off 67 balls. While Stirling and Joyce put up a 104-run stand for the second wicket, Ed Joyce and Niell O' Brian added 96 for the 3rd wicket to put Ireland firmly on the path of victory.
